The Murrabit Group School enthusiastically caters for primary school aged children. In 2001, the school was the first in Victoria to propagate leaf hoppers and bridal creeper rust in a classroom situation and then carry out a release into the environment under the Weed Warrior program. October 2003 saw their 5th release of the rust fungus making their contribution towards the environmental benefits for the local citrus growers and Murray River frontage. The school received first prize in the Small School Category of the 26th Victorian School Garden Awards 2003. It was the second time Murrabit has ‘bloomed’ at the annual awards.
